After the earthquake took place in Wenchuan, Sichuan province, hundreds of millions of people throughout the country are concerned with the rescue and relief of the victims. While NORINCO headquarters and subsidiaries in Beijing were actively organizing their employees to donate, its overseas offices and subsidiaries outside Beijing also gave launched donations to help relieve the victims. Apart from the units that submit donations through the headquarters, many others expressed their concern and love by donating to local organizations.

By May 22, following the donation of RMB 660,000 from employees of NORINCO headquarters, Beijing subsidiaries, some overseas offices and subsidiaries outside Beijing, other overseas offices and employees had donated over RMB 180,000 equivalent through Chinese embassies in host countries. Subsidiaries outside Beijing and their employees, such as DFD Investment Co., Ltd, NORINCO OPTECH Co., Ltd, Chengdu YinHe Dynasty Hotel, Shanghai NORINCO Development Co., Ltd. and Hongkong Silver City International Co., Ltd., donated RMB 660,000 and HKD 100,000 in total.

In addition, as large amount of tents were needed for people’s settlement after the earthquake, NORINCO urgently mobilized 300 tents originally for export to Europe, and timely delivered them to where they were in urgent need.

Disaster is ruthless but people have love for each other. All NORINCO people will continue to reach out to the disaster-stricken areas and help people there restore production and re-build their home with concrete actions.
